The group meets on Mondays at 4.30—5.30 in the Music Centre during term-time.
They play a wide range of music, including Pop, Blues, Jazz and Soul. The repertoire
includes music by Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Django Reinhardt, Antonio
Carlos Jobim, Sam Cooke, David Bowie, Robert Johnson and many others.
The arrangements are usually in three parts : lead, rhythm and bass. They play from
tablature, so it’s helpful if you can read that, or at least know how it works. If
you don’t read yet, but know some chord shapes, you can still go along, as they use
chord symbols too, and you get help picking up the rest as you go along. If you are
interested in joining, just turn up to a lesson and see what they do. There is no
obligation to join and no charge for introductory lessons. Give it a try. You’ll
learn about great music you never knew existed, you’ll get to be a better player
and YOU’LL HAVE FUN!
